Pnumatic hybrid electric vehical
This is an interesting one. Instead of a gasolin-electric hybrid, a Korean company named Energine has created a pnumatic-electric hybrid. The pnumatic motor (a motor powered by air for those of you who don’t know) is used to start the car and power it up hill and when accelerating, but the electric motor is used once the car reaches 12-15 mph. The advantages are obviously the removal of the pollution factor as well as making the engine more effecient. It’s a great idea, though I doubt that Americans will be driving it anytime soon.

how fast can it do 0 to 45 in? The electric AE (associated electronics of course, losi sux
) RC10-TC4 that i’m going to get does it in under 7 seconds, with a top speed of just over 47MPH, now if it was full sized the battery would last about an hour and it would travel at 470MPH, that’d be sweet, abvously there are issues with effeciencies when making a 10th scale item a full scale item, but it would still be sweet. but then it’d cost about 4000USD, that’s taking the price X10, but i’d expect something like that to follow more of an expotential curv, so it’d be much more expencive.
Well what is being used to compress the air? Electricity, well most of it comes from burining coal, and other fossil fuels, i still think a hydrogen fuel cell would be cooler, except for here in Minnesota where the exhaust would cause probems in the winter, eg ice. So it could be alittle cleaner but not by much. I say we force China and India to follow the rest of the pollution controol laws that we have, the reson that gas prices are so high is due to the increasing China demand. Our current vehicals could be much more efficient but there are some burocrats that can’t stand more efficient cars…

I don’t know how much good this will sum up to but anything that beats the crap of the oil industry is worth noting. When they make it available for cheap, I’ll be waiting in line for a test-drive!

Make no mistake laddy, the Pneumatic Hybrid Vehicle will be driven by us Americans as soon as they get the freakin’ thing over here. Especially the way those gas (petrol) prices are climbing. Cherrio
